Sapa Trekking Cost Guide: What You Pay and What's Included

SapaTreks Editorial TeamReviewed by Sung, Guide, valley treks & homestays since 20142 min read

A Sapa trek costs from $25 per person for a half-day, $55 for a full-day, or $95 for a 2-day homestay trek — plus separate costs for Hanoi transport, your Sapa hotel, and optional guide tips. This guide separates what our quoted prices cover from what you still pay out of pocket.

Guide fees on paid treks are included in the quoted price — tips and transport to Sapa are separate.

Published starting prices

Group rates apply for two or more people:

  • Half-day valley trek — from $25/person
  • Full-day valley trek — from $55/person
  • 2-day homestay trek — from $95/person

Solo travellers can email for a single rate. See the full prices and routes guide for what each route includes.

What's in the trek price

An English-speaking local guide is included on every route. Homestay treks add village fees, meals listed on the tour page, and return transport on day two. Intro walks are tip-only — budget roughly $5–15 per person if you enjoyed the guide.

What you pay separately

You'll pay separately for Hanoi–Sapa transport, hotel nights in Sapa town, travel insurance, personal snacks, and guide tips on paid treks. Tips are optional but appreciated; many guests give $5–10 per guide per day on multi-day routes.

Why Fansipan and custom routes aren't listed at a flat price

Fansipan treks and custom itineraries depend on season, group size, and route choices in a way half-day and full-day valley treks don't, so we quote those by email rather than publishing a single number. Ask early if budget is a factor; we're upfront about the range before you commit. See our Fansipan trek vs cable car comparison and our Custom Private Tours page for context.

Avoiding surprise costs

Book by email through our tour pages, not with touts at the bus station or town square. Read how to book safely before you wire money or hand over a deposit to anyone.

Frequently asked questions

Are tips mandatory?
No — but guides on multi-day treks often receive a small tip when guests are happy with the trip.
Is the homestay fee per person or per room?
Per person, and it includes meals and village contributions as listed on the homestay tour page.
Do prices change in peak season?
Published starting rates for half-day, full-day, and homestay treks stay stable; custom routes and solo bookings are quoted individually regardless of season.
What's the cheapest way to trek in Sapa with you?
The half-day trek at $25 per person is our lowest-priced paid route; the tip-based Sapa Town Walk costs nothing upfront if budget is tight.
