About
Sapa, walked with locals
SapaTreks is a small team of local guides who show visitors the town, the rice terraces and the surrounding ethnic minority villages on foot. Intro walks run in small groups from $15/person; premium treks are private, quoted in advance, and led by the same resident guides.
Who we are
We are guides who grew up in and around Sapa, including members of the H'mong and Dao communities whose villages the trails pass through. Guiding is how we share the place we call home — the seasons in the fields, the family kitchens, the markets, and the quiet paths most coach tours never reach.
Who operates SapaTreks
SapaTreks is operated by Hanoi Travel Mate, a fully licensed Vietnamese tour operator and the official SANDEMANs partner in Vietnam. The legal entity behind bookings is Hanoi Travel Mate Co., Ltd., named on our homepage and contact page.
Head office: 8B5 Cam Hoi St, Hai Ba Trung District, Hanoi Capital, Vietnam. Sapa walks and treks meet in Sapa town — your meeting point is confirmed after you book.
What we do
We run small-group walking tours from the centre of Sapa town out through rice terraces, gardens and minority villages such as Cat Cat, Ma Tra and Ta Phin. For travellers who want more time on the trail, we also lead private half-day and multi-day treks, homestays, motorbike days, and custom itineraries — each with a named local guide.
Why a walking tour
Our intro walks are paid, licensed products from $15/person (minimum 2 guests) with a confirmed guide and written booking details — not tip-based free tours. Starting on foot keeps groups small, keeps the meeting point simple (usually Sapa Stone Church), and gives first-time visitors an honest orientation before a valley trek. Tips for guides remain optional thanks on paid walks, not a second invoice.
Why we focus on Sapa
Sapa is more than a viewpoint town. Behind the famous terraces are working farms, weaving households and trails that change with every season — bright green in summer, gold at harvest, misty and quiet in winter. We focus only on Sapa so our guides can keep the routes, the families we visit and the seasonal detail genuinely up to date.

We do not publish invented review quotes on this site. Traveller ratings live on third-party platforms where guests submit their own feedback — primarily Tripadvisor and GuruWalk listings for our licensed operator.
How to walk with us
Email us from any tour page to reserve your spot, meet your guide at the agreed point in Sapa town, and walk. Groups stay small so everyone can hear the guide and set a comfortable pace. Wear shoes you don't mind getting muddy, bring water and a light layer, and arrive a few minutes early so the group can leave on time.
