Booking & Prices

SapaTreks Editorial TeamReviewed by Sung, Guide, valley treks & homestays since 20147 min read

Sapa trekking tours range from a half-day valley walk to a 2-day homestay trek, with an English-speaking guide included on every paid route and no online deposit required. This guide lays out which valleys each route covers, what is typically included, and exactly how booking works — no forms, just a short email conversation.

Local expert tips

  • Tell us your fitness level honestly when you book — we match pace to your group, not the other way around.

  • If you plan both a half-day and homestay in one trip, mention it upfront so we avoid repeating the same village stops.

  • Sung and Thong lead most valley departures — we confirm your guide's name in the booking email, not on the morning of the trek.

  • Book a few days ahead in harvest season (late August–September) when half-day and full-day dates fill fastest.

  • Do the Sapa Town Walk or Countryside Walk before your first paid trek — guests who skip the intro often misjudge pace on terrace descents.

Main trekking routes we run

Most visitors start in Muong Hoa Valley — the corridor of rice terraces below Sapa town, in Lao Cai province (Vietnam National Tourism — Sapa). Our Half-Day Easy Trek follows Lao Chai and Ta Van at a gentle pace on the half-day trail. The Classic Full-Day Valley Trek goes deeper on the full-day trail with more viewpoints — see our half-day vs full-day comparison if you're deciding between them.

For an overnight, the 2-Day Homestay Trek adds Giang Ta Chai (Red Dao community) and a family stay on the homestay route — read what that night actually looks like. Summit seekers book the Fansipan Trek separately; it's a different kind of challenge, compared here.

Common mistakes to avoid

  • Assuming half-day and full-day visit different valleys — both cover Lao Chai and Ta Van; the difference is hours on trail.
  • Booking with bus-station touts instead of a named operator with written confirmation and tour detail pages.
  • Arriving same-day from Hanoi and starting a homestay trek without a rest half-day — most guests need one afternoon to settle first.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need to pay a deposit online?
No. We confirm by email, and payment method and timing are agreed in your confirmation — there is no booking form or card payment on the website.
Which trek is best if I only have one day?
The full-day valley trek covers the classic Muong Hoa scenery in more depth. If you'd rather finish by early afternoon, the half-day trek visits the same villages at a lighter pace.
Are rates per person or per group?
Rates depend on route, group size, and whether you book a shared or private experience. Check the relevant tour page or email us for a written quote before you travel.
Can I combine two treks in one trip?
Yes — many guests pair a half-day or full-day trek with the 2-day homestay trek later in their stay. Mention both when you book so we can avoid repeating villages.
How far in advance should I book a Sapa trek?
In peak season (March–May and September–November), book a few days ahead for fixed dates. Last-minute spots exist in quieter months — email us even 24–48 hours before if your dates are flexible.
What's the difference between SapaTreks intro walks and paid treks?
The Sapa Town Walk and Countryside Walk are paid intro walks from $15/person when booked (minimum 2 guests). Half-day, full-day, and homestay treks descend into Muong Hoa Valley with a confirmed guide, fixed route, and written price — booked by email in advance.
